Fran Ackerman, MSW

Fran Ackerman grew up in New York, received her B.A. from Barnard College, and her MSW from Simmons School of Social Work in Boston. She did postgraduate training in family therapy at the Ackerman Institute, Georgetown Family Center and at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic.

Fran Ackerman has taught family therapy throughout the United States and abroad and has published professional articles in this field. Her major interest is Bowen Family Systems Theory.

In addition to her private practice, she is currently on the faculty of the Hebrew University School of Social Work and has been on the faculty of the Ackerman Institute and the Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic.

She is married to Calvin Ackerman, an ophthalmologist who is presently doing research. She has three married children and six grandchildren.
