Spinoza's Donkey
By
Anonymous
Spinoza's
donkey-
So perversely rational
As to be stupid.
What
beast in its right mind
Wouldn't turn
To the right
Or left
To eat its fill?
I
laugh,
Yet am guilty of the same.
While
waiting for the
Perfect, rational proof
That I'm worthy of love,
I stand, stiffly,
And starve.

"Not marble,
nor the gilded monuments
Of princes, shall outlive this powerful rhyme;
But you shall shine more bright in these contents
Than unswept stone, besmeared with sluttish time."

Teenage World
By
Anonymous
She
went miles out of her way to carry his books home
from school,
He played guitar while she played the fool.
She thought he was perfect, their love was sublime,
He didn't know if she was worth it,
He was just killing time.
Her boyfriend wants her to be a woman,
Her mother wants her to be a little girl,
No one really understands when you're a teenage
in an adult world.
She
had fantasies about their life together,
He had fantasies of a different kind.
She thought they would last forever,
He was about to change his mind.
Her
boyfriend wants her to be a woman,
Her mother wants her to be a little girl,
Life isn't much fun when you're trapped in a teenage
world.
He
left her broke hearted,
She left him with annoying guilt.
She thought her life would be over when they parted,
He went out to find another girl to jilt.
Her
boyfriend wants her to be a woman,
Her mother wants her to be a little girl,
One day soon she will find someone to share her
teenage world.
