LET ME CLOSE YOUR EYELIDS

By Rivkah Moses

Let me close your eyelids
With my fingertips,
That you shouldn't look at me
When I feel like this.

A new dam
Creates a new lake-
The surface is still,
But underneath whole villages
And generations of history
Are bathed in water.

Swim with me
And dive deep to explore
The hidden.

You, you, you, you,
-You-
You confuse me,
And neither the Greeks
Nor the Chinese can translate for me
Your buried treasure.
