Reverie

By Rivkah Moses

The phone rings,
And I jump,
Thinking it is you.

I've been waiting
For your call,
For you to tell me
It's all a mistake--
You are still there,
Growing older
With love.

The phone rings,
And I jump.
Again, it is not you,
And my reverie,
Becomes a requiem.
